Step by step

  1. On your server open Preferences, then Development, then New application.
  2. Give it the read:accounts, write:statuses and write:media scopes and save it.
  3. Open the application and copy "Your access token".
  4. In Postia press Add account, pick Mastodon, type your server's address, such as mastodon.social, and paste the token.

If something goes wrong, the form shows the network's own answer in words, and nothing is saved until the connection works.

How do I disconnect Postia from Mastodon?

Delete the application on your server, under Preferences, then Development. The token stops working at once.

A post says "Partly failed". What does that mean?

It reached some of its channels and not others. Open the post: every destination is listed with what happened to it, and a failed one carries the network's own error message.

Nothing is retried behind your back. Fix the cause, then send the post again to the channels that missed it.
